Law Raids Bootlegger, One Charged

Officers from the Columbia Police Department conducted a bootlegging raid Friday that resulted in one man being arrested.

CPD officers executed a search warrant at the Jerry Smith place on Parrott Avenue, and seized in the search were 286 cans of beer, 25 pints of liquor and $25 in cash.

Arrested and charged with the illegal sale of alcoholic beverages in a dry territory, first offense, was Adam Lawless, 25, of Columbia. Lawless was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.

The arrest was made by CPD Officer Gary Roy, along with officers Kevin Atwood, Terry Flatt and Brad Scholl.

Two arrested on drug charges

A traffic stop in the limits of Columbia on Friday resulted in two people being arrested on drug charges.

Arrested by Columbia Police Department officers were Mona Hudson, 38, of Dunnville, and Steve Jensen, 46, of Russell Springs. Hudson was charged with possession of a controlled substance first degree-cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a DUI suspended license. Jensen was charged with possession of marijuana. Both were lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.

The arrests were made by CPD Officers Kevin Atwood and Gary Roy.
