With the first confirmed cases of Influenza in the state of KY, the Department of Public Health is urging Kentuckians to take advantage of the Flu vaccination to help protect their families from illness over the holidays. According to the DPH, there are more Flu shots available this year than in previous years and taking advantage of the vaccine is the best way to prevent the illness which can make people severely sick for several days. Locally, the Adair County Health Department has a large supply of Flu shots for adults and children. Beverly Brockman of the ACHD said, “We have such a large supply of Flu shots that we are accepting walk-in patients from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Moday through Friday.” Currently the Flu activity in KY is listed as sporadic by the Center for Disease Control which is the lowest level of activity. According to the KYDPH, Kentucky’s Flu activity lasted through April last year with the highest peak of confirmed cases occurring in January, February and March. To make an appointment or for more information on the Flu vaccine please contact the Adair County Health Department at 384-2286.
