The new construction and remodeling project set for Westlake Regional Hospital is another step closer to the July 1st starting date. At a special called meeting of the Adair County Hospital Board of Trustees, last week, the board selected Branscum Construction as the Construction Manager and General Contractor. According to Westlake Administrator and CEO Rusty Tungate the upcoming construction and renovation at Westlake is on schedule and is set to begin July 1st. The $19.8 million project will include adding a third floor to the existing building while the first and second floors will receive complete renovations. In addition a new administration building will be constructed, the Medical Office Building will be remodeled, a new larger elevator and a courtyard with access from the dinning hall will be added as well as installing a new MRI machine. According to Tungate the board of trustees wanted to get the construction manager on board while the architects are still working on the blueprints. “We needed to get the construction manager involved with the project to work with the architects and make changes that may have to be made to aid in construction and save money on things that may not work the way they were originally designed,” said Tungate. The massive project is expected to be completed in approximately 1.5 to 2 years. |
