County PRIDE Clean-up Kicks Off This Weekend

The Adair County PRIDE Spring Clean-up is scheduled for this Saturday, April 12 and there will be plenty of prize incentives for residents to get involved.
The clean-up activities are scheduled from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and will begin at the Annex building with a free breakfast including a wide variety of donuts, juice, milk and coffee and will conclude at the Mt. Carmel location with a free lunch cooked by Johnnie Jones that will feature hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, chips, drinks and prize give-a-ways.
The prizes will be handed out during lunch and include several cash prizes, Wal-Mart and IGA gift cards, oils changes, ball caps, restaurant gift certificates and much more.
All participants will also receive a free PRIDE Spring Clean-up t-shirt and hidden prizes will be placed along the selected roadside areas for participants to find during the clean up.
The areas that have been selected for the clean-up are Holmes Bend Road, Mt. Carmel Road, Butler Branch Road, Wagon Wheel Road, Vanhoy Road, Kellyville Road, Old Cane Valley Road, Cane Valley Road, Boat Ramp Road, Bridgewater Road, Beech Top Road and the Knifley Area Volunteer Fire Department will be in the KY-76 area while the Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department will be cleaning the roadway in the Breeding area.
The Untied Methodist Church Youth Group will be getting an early start on the PRIDE Spring Clean-up starting today and Friday cleaning up the Barnett’s Creek Road area.
According to Lisa Lee of the Adair County Judge Executive office water will be provided throughout the day at no charge and was donated by Wal-Mart of Columbia.
Motorists in the selected areas are reminded to use extreme caution when traveling on the roadways involved in the PRIDE Clean-up and to watch for orange safety vests along the roadside.

To help with the PRIDE Spring Clean-up Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton and the Adair County Fiscal Court are holding the annual free dumpster and tipping days on Friday, April 18 and Saturday April 19.
The dumpsters will be open on Friday from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm and on Saturday from 7:30 am to 12:00 pm.
The county will be placing dumpsters at the Breeding Fire Department, the feed store in Cane Valley, Knifley Fire Department, Pellyton Fire Department, the lawnmower shop on KY-80 east, Gradyville, Glensfork and Portland.
The dumpsters are for Adair County residents only and county personnel will be at each of the locations to assist residents while they are using the dumpsters.
However there are a few items that will not be accepted including sealed containers with paint, steel cables, tires, capacitors, televisions, batteries, hazardous materials and tanks (acetylene, oxygen and propane).
Residents are also asked not to leave debris, trash or garbage lying on the ground if the dumpsters are full.
