MAN ARRESTED AFTER STEALING, WRECKING Car

An Adair County man is facing numerous charges after stealing a vehicle and then wrecking it a short time later. According to a release from the Adair County Sheriff’s Department, at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday the office was notified that a resident on Clear Springs Road had called and said that an intoxicated man was trying to get into their home. Deputy Sheriff Charles Greer was responding to the call and was traveling east on KY 80 (Russell Springs Road) when he observed a vehicle approaching traveling west. The vehicle left the roadway, went through three fences and struck a tree before coming to rest. After stopping at the wreck scene, Deputy Greer discovered that the operator, David Cooper, had stolen the 2002 Chevy Impala from the residence of Ted and Norma Turner on Clear Springs Road, the destination to which the deputy was responding. Cooper was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital by the Adair County EMS, where he was admitted for treatment of his injuries. Cooper is facing numerous charges, including theft of an auto, reckless driving assault on medical personnel, wanton endangerment first degree, DUI and operating on a suspended license. Teen injured in Crash on KY 61 S A 16-year-old Adair County girl was transferred to a Lexington hospital following a single-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon on KY 61 South. Miranda Carter, of Columbia, was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital by the Adair County EMS and later transferred to the University of Kentucky Medical Center following the accident, which occurred at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday on KY 61 approximately 4.5 miles south of Columbia. According to the accident report, Carter was a passenger in a 1989 Suzuki Samuri being operated by Roger Abner, 16, of Columbia. Abner was traveling north on KY 61 when he dropped off the shoulder of the road. The Suzuki overturned and then flipped three or four times before coming to rest on the shoulder of the roadway. Both Abner and Carter were wearing seat belts, but Carter was partially ejected from the vehicle when it began to flip over. Abner was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital by private vehicle to be checked for injuries. The accident was investigated by Adair County Deputy Sheriff Mike Burton. |
