Looking solely at their win/loss record, one might think that this season was not very successful for the Lady Indians. Despite a 12-16 final tally, the Lady Tribe were able to advance to the 5th Region tournament for the fourth consecutive year, and doing so replacing two 1000 point scorers who had been four year starters. Three Lady Indian seniors stepped into the limelight this season for the Lady Indians. Chene Smith capped off a stellar career for the Lady Indians this season as she was asked to be more perimeter oriented. Hannah Peck returned after missing the 2006-07 campaign with a knee injury and continued her hard nosed play. And Jaclyn Taylor stepped into a starting role this season and led the Lady Tribe from the point guard position. Looking ahead at next season, the Lady Indians will return two sophomore starters. Carli Burton, coming off being named to the All Region team, will return as the Lady Indians leading scorer. Center Chelsea Beard, who was among the state leaders in rebounds, also returns after a solid 2nd campaign for the Lady Tribe. The Lady Indians will also return several other players who gained valuable varsity experience this season. McKenzie Martin returns following a freshman season that saw her contribute more as the season progressed and will be counted on for a bigger role next season. DJ Ballou and Chanlie Otterson, a pair of 8th graders, will also be looked upon for more minutes next season. Lauren Goodin, Whitney Rodgers, and Jessica Wethington will be also be returning to the court next season. |
