Lily B. Wray Rogers
Lily B. Wray Rogers, 64, of Burkesville, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, August 20, 2008. She was born in Cumberland County on Monday, September 27, 1943, the daughter of Jesse and Flora Thrasher Wray. She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom Distribution in Campbellsville and was currently employed by the United Methodist Opportunity Store in Burkesville. She was a Christian and she had attended the Nazarene Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Rogers, her brother, Ivan Wray and her great grandson, Raquone Upchurch. She is survived by her father, Jesse Wray of Trenton, Georgia; her mother, Flora Thrasher Wray of Burkesville; her daughter, Beverly Upchurch of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; her step-daughter, Sherry Williams of Georgetown; her brother and sister-in-law, Vernard and Brenda Wray of Bowling Green; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Eleen and Lewis Parnell of Sparksville, Juanita Claywell of Burkesville; her grandchildren, Matthew Upchurch, September Upchurch and Terri Lynn Tillery; her step-grandchildren, Stephanie L. Sapp and James R. Williams; nine great grandchildren and one step-great grandchild. Services were held Sunday, August 24, 2008 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Rev. James Hickey officiating. Special singing by Stephanie L. Sapp. Burial was in the Tarter’s Chapel Cemetery in Adair County. Pallbearers were Jeff Parnell, Terry Wray, Vernard Wray, Rodney Parnell, Richard Parnell and Lewis Parnell. Norris-New Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
