Two separate accidents in Taylor County in less than a week resulted in the deaths of a Greensburg man and a Campbellsville man.
The second of the two accidents occurred early yesterday morning at approximately 7:30 am when two Green County men traveling in opposite directions on KY-55 collided.
According to the accident report from Taylor County Deputy Sheriff Rodney Cox, 20-year-old Kenneth Darnell of Greensburg was traveling north on KY-55 in a 1999 GMC pickup truck and attempted to make a left turn onto KY-565 also known as Ebenezer Road.
Darnell pulled into the path of a 2000 Chevy S-10 pickup driven by Greensburg resident Kenneth Teets, 35.
Teets struck the right front area of Darnell’s vehicle and both vehicles came to rest just off the southbound lane facing west.
Teets was removed from the vehicle by the jaws-of-life by Campbellsville/Taylor County Rescue and was transported to Taylor County Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Darnell was uninjured in the accident.
The first accident occurred last week when a Taylor County man with ties to Adair County died after an early morning accident on his motorcycle.
According to the accident report from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 2:43 am on Thursday, June 12th, when 29-year old Ryan J. Shipp of Campbellsville was traveling East on KY-210 when he ran off the roadway in a curve and struck the mile marker 9 sign and then an embankment.
According to investigating officer Sheriff’s Deputy Aaron Walters, Shipp traveled approximately 130-yards down the ditch-line before coming to rest.
Shipp was transported to Taylor County Regional Hospital by Campbellsville/Taylor County Rescue where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Shipp was the son of Dr. Robert Shipp of Family Medical Center in Columbia.
