ACHS CHEERLEADERS QUALIFY FOR NATIONALS
The Adair County High School Varsity Cheerleaders qualified for the 2007 CANAM Nationals this weekend and will travel to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina next spring.
The team qualified for the national competition by achieving a certain score at the Adair County Cheer and Dance Open sponsored by CANAM held Saturday at the Adair County High School gymnasium.
“We were excited that CANAM chose us to host the regional competition, and more excited that we qualified for the national contest,” said cheerleading coach Julie McQueary. “We normally don’t compete in a qualifier this early in the season - it's usually in January. But, we’re in now, and glad to be doing as well as we are early in the season.”
The ACHS varsity cheerleaders will be competing in the Super Large Varsity Division at the CANAM Nationals, which will take place Mar. 15-18.
“We were first runner-up in our division last year, and this year we’re hoping for a win,” McQueary said.
The ACHS cheerleaders next competition will be on Dec. 2 in the Cave City Classic at Hart County High School. Both the varsity and junior varsity teams will be competing.
