The ACHS Lady Indians took two of three games this week, with two contests on the road to move to two games above .500 for the season. The Lady Tribe took a pair from 4th region opponents Cumberland Co and Monroe Co. after falling to Elizabethtown last Tuesday.
ACHS 5 Elizabethtown 7
The Lady Indians dropped a heartbreaker to 17th District foe Elizabethtown after a successful appeal play by the Lady Panthers following what would have been a game turning homerun from catcher Jessica Harmon in the top of the seventh.
Adair grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as Carli Burton singled and was later brought home by a Kaitie Luckey single. The score would remain the same until E-town stormed on top for seven runs in their half of the third and fourth innings.
But the Lady Indians would not go away, and would begin their comeback in their half of the fifth cutting the score to 7-3. Leadoff back to back singles from Harmon and Shauna Davis started the rally. After two consecutive walks, Burton and McKenzie Martin drove home Harmon and Davis.
The Lady Indians set themselves up for a late game rally cutting the advantage to 7-5 after Jessica Wethington and Martin scored in the seventh to set up the would be two out homerun that would have given the Adair the lead.
Burton and Harmon each had two hits to lead the offensive charge.
ACHS 7 Cumberland Co. 0
Meredith Corbin showed the way on the mound as she tossed a complete game shut out in defeating the Lady Panthers at home on Thursday. Corbin fanned nine batters in the effort.
The Lady Indians scored single runs in the second, fourth and fifth innings, before exploding for four runs in the sixth to secure the win.
McKenzie Martin led the offense with three hits including an RBI single in the sixth inning. Jessica Wethington, Carli Burton, Hannah Peck, Kaitie Luckey, and Jessica Harmon each had a pair of hits, with Burton adding two RBIs.
ACHS 6 Monroe Co. 2
The Lady Indians would score a pair of runs in each of the second, third, and fourth inning to gain a big out of region road win Monday at Tompkinsville.
After surrendering a first inning run to the Lady Falcons, the Lady Tribe fought back to take the lead for good in their second at bat. Hannah Peck and Kaylin Hughes began the rally with back to back singles and later would score on singles from Kaitie Luckey and Jessica Harmon.
The Lady Indians added to the lead in the 3rd frame, as McKenzie Martin and Peck would reach base safely and be sent home on RBI hits from Hughes and Harmon for a 4-1 advantage.
The Lady Indians would set up the win with another pair of runs in their fourth trip to the plate. Bethany Herron and Jessica Wethington would lead off the inning with two hits, with Carli Burton and Martin picking up RBI hits.
Meredith Corbin picked up her 12th win on the season with the complete game effort, surrendering only four hits.
