The ACHS Lady Indians had a very successful week on the diamond taking three of four games including two mercy rule victories at home.  The Lady Indians record now stands at 10-9 on the season with three weeks remaining until the district tournament.
ACHS  11    Marion Co. 0
The Lady Indians cemented the #3 seed in the upcoming 20th district tournament by whitewashing the Lady Knights last Tuesday at ACHS field.  The Tribe would score all their runs in the first three frames in the win as Meredith Corbin pitched a shutout in five innings of work fanning four.
Adair struck early as they took a 1-0 lead in their first at bat.  Jessica Wethington led off the game with a single and was sacrificed to second base by Bethany Herron.  McKenzie Martin then picked up the RBI with a single.
The Lady Indians took control in the second as they rallied for nine runs in the stanza.  Shauna Davis led off the inning with a single and was sent home on an RBI double by Wethington to start the explosion.  The inning continued with RBI hits from Herron, Hannah Peck, Kaylin Hughes, Jessica Harmon, and Carli Burton, with RBI’s also coming from Kaitie Luckey, Shauna Davis and Martin.
The Tribe would add an insurance run in the third as Peck walked and was plated by Hughes RBI sacrifice.
ACHS  13    Russell Co.  3
The Lady Indians bats stayed hot as they sent rival Russell Co. home with a mercy rule loss on Thursday.  Following a scoreless first inning the Lady Indians struck for four runs in the second with all their scores coming with two outs. Walks to Shauna Davis and Chelsea Coomer sandwiched a hit from Jessica Young to start the rally with each player scoring on errors.  Carli Burton would later double and be sent home on a Jessica Wethington RBI single.
The runs continued to flow in the Adair half of the third.  Back to back walks to Kaylin Hughes and Davis, followed by an RBI single for Young, set the stage for the big knock of the inning a two RBI triple off the bat of Burton to put the score at 7-0.
The lady Indians would put the pressure to Russell in the fourth stanza as they batted around in sending five more runs to the plate.  McKenzie Martin got the party started as she reached on a fielder’s choice, with Hughes following with a single.  Both runners would be sent home as Jessica Harmon singled.  Whitney Rodgers (running for Harmon) would next be sent home on a Jessica Young single.  Burton would once again end the inning with another big hit, this one a two RBI double.  Coomer also collected an RBI on a fielder’s choice in the inning.
The Lady Lakers picked up three runs in their half of the 5th, but the Lady Indians would invoke the mercy rule with a  single run in the fifth as Hughes reached base on a walk and later scored the clinching run.
Meredith Corbin picked up the win tossing all five innings scattering five hits.
ACHS  6    Bardstown  4
The Lady Indians picked up a win in the opener of a doubleheader at Larue Co. on Saturday with a win over the Lady Tigers.
The Tribe broke out early with a run in the first inning as Bethany Herron singled and was plated by a McKenzie Martin RBI fielder’s choice.
After Bardstown took the lead in the fourth inning 3-1, Adair responded with three runs of their own to retake the advantage.  Carli Burton reached on a single, and later RBI hits from Jessica Wethington, Kaylin Hughes, and Herron produced the runs.
The Lady Indians would cement the game in the sixth inning scoring two additional runs.  Shauna Davis led off the frame with a double and would be sent home by Jessica Young’s RBI double.  Wethington would then plate the final run sending Young in with a double to set the final score.
Meredith Corbin was impressive in the win, striking out 11 Bardstown hitters.
ACHS  4    John Hardin  6
The second game of the doubleheader was not as kind to the Lady Indians as they fell in a contested game to the Lady Bulldogs.
The Tribe took control early as they plated three runs in the top of the first.  Bethany Herron and McKenzie Martin reached base, with Kaylin Hughes and Jessica Harmon collecting RBI hits in the frame.
After falling behind 4-3 after four innings, Adair would close the gap in the 5th with a run.  Hughes would reach base with one out after being struck by a pitch and would be ushered home later by a Jessica Young RBI sacrifice to tie the score.  However, the Lady Bulldogs would score a run in both the 5th and 6th innings to take the win.
