Basketball Indians Hold Banquet
The ACHS boy’s basketball squad officially ended their 2007-08 season as they held their annual awards banquet last Wednesday at Lindsey Wilson College. The event emceed by Mr. Brent Campbell gave an opportunity for the Indian coaching staff to pay tribute to this year’s squad. Following a meal and highlight video. Following the video, Coach Mark Fudge honored the following players with Academic Awards: Kyle Young, Clay Turner, Trey Grider, Jon Hansel, Dylan Newton, Kyle Sandusky, Jacob Pyles, Blake Perkins, Kyle Daulton, Darren Ballou, Cameron Murrell, and Derek Cape. Players with a perfect GPA were Daniel Humphress, Chaz Giles and Nick Fudge. Continuing with the awards, the following players were honored: Tristan Reese (110% Award); Kyle Sandusky (6th Man Award, Preseason Conditioning Award); Chaz Giles (Most Improved); Corey Helm (3 pt. Award); Cameron Murrell (Offensive Rebound Award); Derek Cape (Coach’s Award); Nick Fudge ( Assist Award, Charges Taken Award, Free Throw Award); Darren Ballou ( Field Goal %, Rebounding, Blocked Shots, and Co-MVP); Kalen Kimberland (Steals, Defensive Award, 3 point %, and Co-MVP). Darren Ballou and Kalen Kimberland were also honored as being part of the Courier Journal and Lexington Herald Leader All State Teams, as well as both being named 5th Region Players of the Year by the coaches and KABC. A preview of next year’s schedule was also unveiled including a debut in the 5th/3rd Holiday Classic in Lexington and also the Toyota Classic at Scott Co.
