Want to learn more about what to do in a medical emergency until help arrives? How to establish a cattle identification system? Or just what all services the local public library offers. You can find out all this and a whole lot meore this Saturday at the Adair County Extension Council’s first Farm and Family Expo. The Expo will take place at John Adair Intermediate School this Saturday starting at 10 a.m. A wide range of topics, in addition to those listed above, will be discussed in 20-minute Share Sessions conducted by volunteers starting at 10:30 a.m. The same sessions will be repeated again at 12:30 p.m. In addition to the Share Sessions, there will also be an Information Fair that will allow participants to learn about community and public services ranging from organ donation to banking to farm safety. According to Tony Rose, County Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development, the expo is designed for entire farm families to gain information about a wide variety of topics. “There’ll be things for the entire family – adults, youth and young children,” Rose said. “The expo is a unique opportunity to learn about a wide range of things all in one place. And, with the Share Sessions being held twice, people can attend several different ones if they choose to do so.” A free lunch will be served to all those in attendance, and participants will be eligible to win numerous prizes. “Individuals who participate can register for free blood drawings at Westlake Regional Hospital’s next health fair,”Rose said, noting that there will be drawings for 100 of the free blood drawings, along with other prizes donated by local merchants. “We encourage everyone to come out and take advantage of this opportunity to gain a lot of free information,” he stated.
