Two Injured In Friday Accident Near Lake
Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon at the intersection of Holmes Bend Road and Mt. Carmel Road, with one being flown to a Louisville hospital. According to the accident report, the collision occurred at 3:38 p.m. Friday. Shelby Reardon, 39, of Mt. Carmel Road, was operating a 2000 Chevy Cavalier and was attempting to make a right-hand turn onto Holmes Bend Road from Mt. Carmel Road when she pulled into the path of a 1999 Dodge Dakota pickup being operated by Michael D. Newton, 17, of Corbin's Bend Road, who was traveling south on Holmes Bend Road. Both Reardon and Newton were transported to Westlake Regional Hospital by the Adair County EMS, with Reardon later being flown by air ambulance to the University of Louisville Hospital. A passenger in the Reardon vehicle, Nathan Griffin, 34, of Mt. Carmel Road, was not injured. The accident was investigated by Adair County Deputy Sheriff Aaron Rainwater.
