Ramona Rogers, Co-Owner Of The Adair Progress Dies After An Extended Illness

Ramona Rogers, co-owner of The Adair Progress, Inc., passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009, at her residence on Bluegrass Drive in Columbia following several months illness. She was 74.
Rogers, along with her daughter, Donna Hancock, and sister, the late Beatrice Jessee, founded The Adair Progress, Inc. in April 1987. She had served the company in various capacities, including being a surrogate mother and "Nana" to many of its employees.
The matriarch of a well-known Adair County family, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Edna Ellis Humes Hale of Adair County, and was the widow of J.U. Rogers, who preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her foster parents, Joe and Willie Lee Dudley.
In addition to Beatrice Jessee, another sister, Bernice Veldman, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by three children - Ernie Rogers and his wife Myranda, Donna Hancock and her husband Troy, and Michelle Lewis and special friend Chris Harl - all of Columbia.
Also surviving are two brothers - Don C. Hale and his wife Geraldine and Ronald T. Hale and his wife Karen, all of Columbia; six grandchildren - Amber Harrison, "Boomer" Lewis, Harley Lewis, James Riley Rogers, Peyton Antle and Grace Ann Antle; and one great grandchild, Skye Bayge Brockman.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church.
The funeral service was held Monday, June 15, 2009 at 12 noon at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Watson officiating.
Interment was in Haven Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Derrick Campbell, Joey Cole, Donnie Hale, Eric Hale, Ricky Hale, Ronnie Hale, Todd Parson and Patrick Parson.
