Kinfley Man Stabbed, One Apprehended After Search
A Knifley-area man was sent to a Louisville hospital after being stabbed at an Elkhorn Road residence Sunday night, and the perpetrator was later arrested after being tracked down by a police canine unit. According to a news release from the Adair County Sheriff's Department, a call came into the Adair County 911 Center late Sunday night reporting a stabbing at a residence on Elkhorn Road. Adair County Deputy Sheriffs Mike Burton and Justin Claywell along with the Kentucky State Police responded to the call. According to the 911 call, the stabbing victim was at the residence and the individual who had done the stabbing had fled into the woods. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered 39-year-old Oscar Alfaro had been stabbed in the arm and in the stomach area. Alfaro was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital by the Adair County EMS and later transferred to the University of Louisville Hospital. With the assistance of Taylor County Sheriff's Department K-9 Officer Ricky Underwood and his dog, the perpetrator, 46-year-old Jose Gonzales, was located near the Adair-Taylor county line and taken into custody. Gonzales was charged with first degree assault, wanton endangerment first degree and alcohol intoxication in a public place and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail. The case is being investigated by Deputies Burton and Claywell.
