State Representative John "Bam" Carney met with Adair County officials Tuesday to present the approved projects from federal stimulus money.
Carney met with Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton, Magistrate Sammy Baker and Magistrate Joe Rogers to announce House Bill 330 was enacted, which included two federal bridge projects for the county as well as several other projects that are in various stages of development.
The first bridge project will be on KY-551 and will replace the bridge of Casey Creek at a cost of $320,000 and the second project will replace the bridge and approaches over Brush Creek on KY-1289 at a cost of $320,000.
Other projects in the county including acquiring the right-of-way on KY-704 to reconstruct the road to eliminate two dangerous curves and install a guardrail, the planning stages for an eastern Columbia bypass, reconstruct KY-61 from Sparksville to 1,000 feet south of the Louie B. Nunn Parkway, improve sight distance on KY-206 near KY-3491, and construct a new bridge on KY55 crossing Glens Fork Creek.
According to Rep. Carney the projects are spread out over the next two-years but hopes some of the projects will move faster through federal funding.
IN addition Rep. Carney spoke about the freeze on the state gas tax, which he stated would generate $60 million in revenues for city and county governments. Photo:Pictured above: Judge Executive Ann Melton, State Representative Carney, and Magistrates Joe Rogers and Sammy Baker.
