The deadline for entering a float or other unit in the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce's "Christmas in Columbia" parade on Dec. 6 is this Monday, Dec. 1.
Monday is also the final day to enter the Home Decorating Contest.
The theme of this year's celebration and parade is "Christmas Around the World." There is no entry fee for the parade, but over $1,800 in prize money will be given away.
Cash awards will be given for the first four places in the Float Division, with first place receiving $400, second place $300, third place $200 and fourth place $100.
There is a separate category for out-of-county floats, with the first place winner in this category receiving $350 and second place $250.
In the Non-Float Division, first place will receive $100, second place $75 and third place $50.
To register for the parade, or for more information, call Lee Ann McGinnis at 380-1516 or the Chamber office at 384-6020.

Home Decorating
The deadline for entering the home decorating contest is Monday, Dec. 1, and judging will take place on either Dec. 3 and 4 or Dec. 4 and 5. Those entering will be called and told what time the judging will be done.
According to Sheila Hare, coordinator for the contest, a new category has been added this year. There will be awards for Best Decorated Exterior, Best Decorated Interior, and the new category, Best Use of Lights. The winners of each category will receive $100 and a plaque.
There will also be a Best Decorated Business contest. Businesses inside the city limits do not have to enter, and all will be judged.
The winner will receive a large trophy, which will be a "traveling" trophy, with the winner's name engraved on it and moving on to the new winner next year.
Entry forms can be picked up at the Chamber office or at Sheila's Country Junction on the Public Square.
For more information, contact Sheila Hare at 384-0022.

Booth space
Anyone with homemade or hand made crafts or food that would like to reserve a booth for the celebration can do so by calling Lisa Lee or Gale Cowan at the county judge's office, 384-4703.
Booths will be set up in buildings on the Public Square.
