ONE HURT IN EARLY MORNING Accident
A Russell County woman was flown to a Louisville hospital following an accident early Tuesday morning on KY 55 South near the Adair-Russell county line.
Stephanie Warriner, 26, of Jamestown, was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital by the Adair County EMS and was then flown by AirEvac to the University of Louisville Hospital following the accident, which occurred around 5 a.m. Tuesday 10.5 miles south of Columbia on KY 55.
According to the police report, Warriner was traveling north on KY 55 operating a 1992 Toyota when it skidded off the roadway and struck a tree.
The weather and speed are believed to be contributing factors in the accident according to the investigating officer, Adair County Chief Deputy Tracy McCarol. The driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
In addition to the Adair County EMS, the Columbia-Adair County Volunteer Fire Department and Adair County Rescue Squad responded to the accident.
Three injured in Tuesday accident in city
Three people were taken to Westlake Regional Hospital Tuesday morning following an accident at the intersection of Wright Drive and College Park.
According to the police report, the accident occurred at 10:45 a.m. when Catherine Montgomery, 87, of Columbia, operating a 1992 Honda Accord, was traveling on College Park when she pulled onto Wright Drive and struck a 1994 Buick LeSabre being operated by Brenda Mullins, 57, of Columbia, who was traveling on Wright Drive.
After striking the Mullins vehicle, the Montgomery vehicle left the roadway, traveling across a yard and struck a tree. The Mullins vehicle also came to rest in a yard.
Both Montgomery and Mullins, along with a passenger in the Mullins auto, Barbara Stone, 71, of Columbia, were all transported to Westlake Regional Hospital for treatment by the Adair County EMS.
The accident was investigated by Columbia Police Department Officer Jamie Cole.
