TWO ARRESTED FOR SUNDAY BREAK-IN
A Russell County man and an Indiana man were arrested Sunday afternoon in Columbia and charged in connection with a burglary that occurred earlier in the day in Adair County. According to the news release, the burglary occurred three miles east of Columbia on Holladay Cemetery Road. The owner of the property said that two men entered an old farmhouse, and he was able to obtain a description of the two men and the vehicle in which they were in. Deputy Sheriff Tracy McCarol located the vehicle and the occupants in the parking lot of Wal-Mart in Columbia, and arrested both individuals. Doyle Popplewell, of Eli, was arrested and charged with burglary third degree. Bennie Maynard, of Clarksville, IN, was charged with burglary third degree, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Popplewell was also arrested on a warrant from Casey County. Both men were lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail. Deputy McCarol was assisted by Columbia Police Department officers JR. Murphy and Josh Brockman.
