Second Annual FARM, HOME & GARDEN EXPO SET FOR APRil 11th
The second annual Farm, Home and Garden Expo, sponsored by the Adair County Extension Council, will be held Friday, Apr. 11 at Adair County Elementary School. The expo will run from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event, which is funded by the Adair County Agriculture Development Board, will provide an opportunity for individuals to gain valuable information on agriculture, gardening, safety education, home improvement and much, much more. People will also learn more about community and public services, and various educational opportunities. Over 40 organizations, businesses and governmental agencies will have exhibits on display, along with various demonstrations. “The Expo is designed to attract all the citizens of Adair County,” Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources Nick Roy said. “There will be groups there that will meet each and every person’s interests and needs.” As examples, Roy noted that those interested in gardening can visit the Adair County Garden Club’s booth and learn how to make a seed ball; farmers can visit and receive information from agencies such as the Farm Service Agency, or an organization such as the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association or the Kentucky Artificial Breeders Association; and homeowners can visit with local landscapers and greenhouses to find out what products and services they offer. “4-H will be sponsoring numerous youth-related activities,” Roy explained. “These include a bicycle rodeo/safety class (at 2 p.m.), an archery class (at 3 p.m.) and various other craft activities.” There will also be various door prizes and give-aways throughout the afternoon, and the Adair County Extension Office will be giving away free soil test certificates to the first 100 people who register. There will also be a free meal served at 5 p.m. “We want to encourage everyone to come out and participate,” Roy noted. “It will be a fun day with the opportunity to gain a lot of useful information, and it’s all for free.” For more information, contact the Adair County Extension Office at 384-2317. 2008 Exhibitors scheduled to be at the Farm, Home and Garden Expo are: A Plus Computers, Adair County 4-H, Adair County Circuit Clerk- Trust for Life, Adair County Cooperative Extension Service, Adair County Coroner’s Office- Helmets For Kids, Adair County Emergency Management, Adair County Extension Homemakers, Adair County Garden Club, Adair County Health Department, Adair County Jaycees & Fair Association, Adair County Public Library, Adair County Recycling Center, Agape House Pregnancy Crisis Center, Air Evac Lifeteam, Bank of Columbia, Café On The Square, Clayridge Nursery, Columbia Greenhouse, Columbia Professional Massage, Columbia/Adair County Fire Department, Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism, Creekside Greenhouse, Curves, Daniel's Carpet, Designing Pair, Dog Gone Classy, Ed's Small Engine Barn, Edward Jones & Co., Farm Service Agency, First & Farmers National Bank, Gold Canyon, Holdfast Technologies, KABA, Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association, Pampered Chef, Rex's Cycle Shop, Robertson Pools & Spas, Russell Outdoor Power, Second Chance Outreach, South Central Designs, Wal-Mart, WAIN Radio, and WHVE Radio.
