Lieutenant Governor Dan Mongiardo will be the guest speaker at this year’s annual Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce Banquet, which will be held on Tuesday night, Apr. 29, at Lindsey Wilson College’s Cranmer Dining Hall.
The banquet had originally  been set for Apr. 15, but a scheduling conflict arose for the original speaker, Cabinet for Economic Development Secretary John Hindman (who, after committing to speak, found out he had to attend an out-of-state conference), so the date was changed to the 29th to accommodate Lt. Governor Mongiardo.
“We were glad to be able to change the date so we could get Lt. Governor Mongiardo here,” Chamber Executive Director Sue Stivers said. “He will be speaking on Adventure Tourism, and what this can mean to Adair County and Kentucky.”
Stivers said that the lieutenant governor has pledged to spend one-half his time promoting and pursuing Adventure Tourism, which includes such things as horseback riding trails, ATV trails and courses, water sports, etc.
The Chamber will also present its annual “Outstanding” awards at the banquet.
The Outstanding Male and Female Business/ Professional Leader, Outstanding Educator, Outstanding Agriculturalist, Outstanding Employee, and the Volunteer of the Year awards will be presented.
In addition, a new award has been established this year for the Outstanding Industry.
The banquet will get underway at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 29. Tickets cost $15, and reservations must be made no later than Monday, Apr. 21.
For more information, or to make reservations, drop by the Chamber office on Burkesville Street or call 384-6020.
