Adair man arrested after fleeing police

An Adair County man was arrested and charged with multiple offenses on Wednesday morning after a short chase near Little Cake Road. 

Shane Bottoms, 31, of Adair County, was charged with Criminal Trespassing 3rd degree, Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd degree, Theft by Unlawful Taking over $10,000, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Controlled Substance 1st degree Methamphetamines. 

According to the Adair County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Aaron Rainwater was dispatched to a theft in progress on Little Cake Road Wednesday morning. The owner of the property told Adair County 911 that he had caught a man with a firearm on his property and to send law enforcement. 

Upon Rainwater's arrival, Bottoms fled into a wooded area on foot. Minutes later, he was apprehended and later lodged in the Adair County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond. 

Rainwater was assisted on the scene by Sheriff Harrison Moss, Kentucky State Police, and Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement.
