Lindsay Sloan, 31, of Columbia, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and is facing more than 100 counts of Illegally Obtaining and Assisting Others in Illegally Obtaining Controlled Substances over a two-year period while employed by Family Practice Associates of Russell County.
The investigation began when officials from Russell County Hospital began to notice some improprieties. The investigation by the Russell County Sheriff's Office lasted a few months and culminated in the arrest Tuesday afternoon.
Sloan is accused of making false statements regarding 127 prescriptions for narcotics between April 23, 2014 and June 2016. Detective Joey Hoover of the Russell County Sheriff's Office said that Sloan obtained the narcotics for herself and for others.
The arrest warrant states that Sloan procured prescriptions under various names, of which she was not legally authorized to do so.
Hoover stated that more charges against Sloan are likely to be coming, with the potential of 1-2 more arrests of other individuals following further investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
More details will be provided as they are made available. A full story will be in next week's Adair Progress.
